There are many benefits to be derived from ahome based internet business that a traditional off-line business simply cannot provide. To begin with it requires much less capital to start an online business than it does a conventional bricks-and-mortar business.

The chief thing you need to begin is a computer with internet access. This gives you two immediate advantages over a conventional business. First, you will have the ability to promote to a worldwide market. Second, your business will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

However, neither of these two advantages will guarantee your success. There are six important steps that you need to take to stand a good chance of success with a home-based business on the Internet.

1. Focus on a niche. The Internet is a very competitive market place so it makes sense to narrow your focus and find a specific niche market, one that is of interest to you and which offers a reasonable prospect of making money.

It will also help if you have some expertise in the subject; although this is not an absolute. Short of that; select something that you can feel passionate about. This will give you the opportunity to do something you enjoy and allow you to benefit from what you already know.

2. Choose a product. You have a head start should you have a product you can sell online. However, the majority of us do not. Not to worry; because another great thing about the Internet is that you can find a myriad of products to sell.

The most common way to make money selling something online, especially for beginners, is to join an affiliate program. Clickbank, and Amazon are two of the more popular programs and are free as is Google Adsense.

You can also make money with pay per click (PPC) advertising, cost per action (CPA) programs.

3. Select a domain name for your website. Here you have several options. One is to use the name of your product. Another is to use the primary keywords that best describe your business, and finally you may choose to use your own name.

Always go for “.com” as your first choice for the suffix for your domain. If it isn’t available “.net” would be my next choice.

4. Set up website hosting. You can check on Google for ratings of hosting companies and there are many. It is important to select a reliable one and a couple of popular companies I can recommend are BlueHost.com and HostGator.com.

5. Set up your website. This can be very difficult if you have no experience in this area and it can also be costly. This sometimes causes people to hesitate getting started online. However, an easy and inexpesive way to do this is to install WordPress on your web hosting site.

Most good quality hosting companies have an easy WordPress installation program in your CPanel admin area. You can use that to set up a WordPress blog with just a few clicks of your mouse.

6. Promote your business. This is the most important thing you need to do. You can have the most attractive website with great sales copy, but if no one can find it to read it, it will make you very little if any money.

Creating a stream of high quality, pertinent content every day does not pose any great challenge for large companies and the successful internet marketers. However, for small, struggling, internet entrepreneurs, creating good quality relevant content is one of the major challenges they face.

Content creation and link building are two things that every webmaster who wants to get better search engine rankings must focus on, and the center of attention must be on first learning to do keyword research and then to re-purpose your content after you have created it.

1. Keyword Research

The free Google Keyword Tool provides a way you can research what people are searching for in your niche.

When researching keyword phrases on the Google Keyword Tool, uncheck the “Broad Match” checkbox and check the “[Exact]” match check box. Also, make sure your “Advanced Options and Filters” settings are appropriately set for your research parameters.

Now, experiment with a list of keyword phrases related to your niche and see what comes up in the results. Look out for relevant keyword phrases that have low to medium competition and high monthly search volume.

You goal should be to develop a list of twenty or more keyword phrases. Then search those phrases on Google and check out the top five or six websites and read the articles, watch the videos, listen to the podcasts, join their lists, download their freebies, etc. Take notes as you do this and soon you will start generating a lot of ideas for creating original, high quality, relevant content of your own.

Create Content

Next you will be ready to produce articles around each different keyword phrase. So now it is time to move into the content production phase of your campaign.

Here, I would recommend that you develop a step-by-step routine which will turn single articles into a stream of content to different distributing outlets such as blogs and article directories. You should also consider using different media such as audio and video. This is what is meant by “repurposing” your content.

2. Re-purposing Your Content

This is a great way to use to improve your search results. You do this by reworking both the form and the content of your original article. The other thing you can do then is to use a keyword in your anchor text in the author’s resource box to link back to your landing page or to the original article.

Here are some ways you can do that:

1). After you have published your article on your website, rework the content and post it on your blog. One neat way is to just create a summary of the article to post on your blog and a keyword-rich anchor link to the full article.

2). Revise the article and distribute it on article directories such as ezinearticles.com.

3). Make a video version of your article and post it on YouTube.com.

With any of the three you will be able to link back to the correct page on your website. Don’t forget to use your keywords in your anchor link.

  • Use Social Marketing. Facebook and Twitter, as you no doubt know, are very popular all over the world and more and more internet marketers are making use of these sites to market their business. These sites offer exceptional opportunities to advertise your site for free.

 

  • Participate In Forums. Forums can be of great help to you in 2 ways. First, you can learn from others in your niche what has been successful for them in their internet marketing endeavors. Second, you can offer your own advice or assistance to others which will increase your credibility and the trust of others. This can be big boost in your traffic.

If you have been blogging for any length of time you’ve probably encountered “blogger burnout.” You may have simply run out of content ideas for your blog. If you’re like me you may think of a subject to do an article on while doing some task or other and think you will remember it later, but you don’t.

The lesson to be learned here is to write those subjects down when you think of them. So let’s examine 4 easy ways you can always have a supply of writing subjects in your inventory.

1. Read Industry News
One of the easiest ways is to follow the industry news on other popular websites.  Occasionally the news stories may be very time sensitive. In that case you will need to quickly decide whether any of them are ideas that you would enjoy writing about.

Most of the time, the stories will be more evergreen which means you can make a note of them for later.  As an added bonus, you can pay special attention to any stories which are well received by your target market.  Just because someone else wrote about it first doesn’t mean that you can’t.

2. Use Other Popular Articles
Another very successful strategy is to simply piggyback other popular content.  In order to do this, you can use any article or news story that you will think will be interesting to your readers.

Then add an introduction and a few thoughts of your own about the article. Next you can include a few excerpts or highlights on your blog, and provide a link to that article or highlights on your blog or even place the entire article on your blog with the author’s credits included.  You will also benefit by adding a summary or a few additional thoughts at the end of the article.

3. Encourage Others to Contribute to Your Blog
One of the easiest ways is to simply ask for people to do guest posts. In this way, not only do you not need to come up with new ideas, but you don’t even have to develop the content.

Another way is to generate a poll or survey to find out what topics they are interested in. This way you can get some new ideas, and you will get more insight into what your audience really wants.

4. Draw Down Your Focus
If you have used the previous 3 steps you will have identified many, perhaps even hundreds of content ideas that you can use.  All you need to do is go back through the content you already created and choose a sub topic that was part of a larger article.

You can then use the sub topic as the basis of a new article and simply expand upon that idea or concept in greater detail. Quite often you will discover that by starting out with your most accepted articles, you will be able to not only find new content ideas for your blog, but they will likely be ideas that your readers will benefit from because they found the previous topic useful, simply on a broader level.

1.  Capture Attention In the Subject Line

If you fail to do this, then the best case situation is that they don’t read your email – worst case, they opt-out. Unless you tell them why they should open you email they probably won’t. The best way to do this is by stating the value that is inside the email.

Don’t hide what you are offering.  At a quick glance, the reader should know exactly what to expect and how they can benefit from opening your email. How are you going to provide a benefit for them –solve a problem, promise to save time or money, etc?

2. Use a Real Name Inside the Email

Email is essentially personal, so why would you sign off using a name other than your own? This is a common mistake that many people make. This is also a great place to be a little creative. Instead of saying “thanks for reading” or “see you later”, add a little style.

3. Sender Field

I don’t know about you but when I open my inbox and see a companies name I don’t get excited The sender field is also personal so don’t use your companies name. The entire idea behind building a relationship with your list is that you have connected with them personally, so why not use that to your full advantage.

4. Tell Your Readers What You Want Them To Do

The average person will decide whether or not to read your email within a few seconds regardless of the content .In order to grab their attention, you need to include some type of call to action.  This not only conditions your list to be responsive, but also allows you to take them elsewhere. This is a good place too incorporate links related to content on your website.

5. Don’t Have One Big List

Many marketers assume that everyone is on their list for the same reason or at least have a shared interest. One serious mistake that will .destroy your ability to effectively communicate with your list is by lumping everyone into one big group.

There are probably various reasons why people joined your list.  It makes sense then to try to give them what they want.  With email marketing, this means that you need to segment your list effectively.
