Every real work at home business provides at least three things. We are going to break those down in this brief article.

1. Your Own Website

You should have your own website or blog on which to promote your products.

The company you join will usually furnish you with a website.

Even if you do network marketing or affiliate marketing you should be

marketing your own website first.

Products and programs will come and go, but hopefully your home business

will be around for a long time. You can make it a real work at home business

by making it about you and making it interesting, not about the products and

programs you are selling.

2. An Autoresponder

Use an autoresponder to capture prospects names and email addresses. You should have a sign-up form on your primary home page.

You should also add it to all of the webpages you build. This should be included in the sidebar of your blog which makes it easy to have it on every page as you publish a blog article.

3. Offer Training

Real work at home businesses offer training. Although you might be in business for yourself you are not in business by yourself.

You are going to need some help and there is no better place to look for it than in the company you have joined! You should be able to find this help in the form of a discussion forum and archived online training provided by the program owner.

Internet home business opportunities are often difficult for some people to make money. Let’s take a look at 3 of the reasons why this is often true.

1. Lack of Basic Skills.  Many people do not have the skills needed to take an opportunity and turn it into a money making Internet business. You do not have to be a “techi”, but if you are going to compete online you do need to take the time to learn some basic computer skills.

2. Not a Self Starter. Some people are so used to having a boss and following directions that they have difficulty working on their own. It’s too easy to talk yourself out of working when you do not have a boss to supervise you.

There are a lot of distractions at home and this can sidetrack you as well. Although working at home sounds good in reality it can be more difficult than you would think.

3. Lack of Focus. Many internet marketers, especially newer ones, are distracted by all of the promotions that promise easy ways to make money. It is very competitive on the Internet today. So whether you have chosen to become an affiliate marketer, develop your own product or provide a service you should focus on marketing your chosen niche.

There are many ways you can market your product including: advertising, article marketing, blogging, participating in relevant forums, email marketing etc. The best approach is to learn and use one form of marketing at a time and then continue to add others.

These are only 3 of the many obstacles you will face in marketing your internet home business opportunity. However, if you learn the basic skills, plan each work day and stick to your plan, and maintain your focus you will make a good start in becoming a successful internet marketer.

Competition is fierce for the attention of readers on the Internet, so it is important to know how to be successful in that battle. Since the auto responder is one of the primary “weapons” used in the battle, it is vital that you become proficient in at least one aspect of the entire procedure.  While you obviously want to be at least proficient at every level of running a successful email marketing campaign, it is important to excel in some areas in order to have an edge. Here is a quick look at some of the most common types of strategies on the auto responder marketing battlefield.

1.   Salespersons

These are people who send out at least one email a day to their list promoting a product or two. This approach can be extremely effective over the short term because it is possible to quickly make multiple sales from a single person. However, it is not a good marketing strategy for the long term.

Your readers will expect some quality information that will be helpful to them. They will soon tire of getting nothing but promotions for products that you are marketing.

2. Listbuilders

The listbuilder is the type of internet marketer who will place a majority of their efforts into the actual list-building process.  They will usually have an extremely high amount of opt-ins on a weekly or monthly basis, and they will generally have lower overall conversion rates. Relationships may be important to the listbuilder, but their emphasis is on signing up high numbers of people rather than taking the time to personally connect with a few readers. Quite often, however,  because of the sheer number of people on their list, the lists are extremely profitable.

3. The Writer

The writer is the type of internet marketer who can build a decent sized list, but will probably build it over time in order to create a giant list.  The strength of the writer is that they can create content of a high value for their readers on a consistent basis.  They often send out less sales offers, but in return, have a much higher conversion rate when they do.  While they do not have excessively high opt in rates, they will also have extremely low opt out rates.  The writer is the person who thrives on building relationships that can create a sense of community with the people on the list.

4. The Linker

Some auto responder marketers use their emails as promotions with just a little information about their product or service and then steer their readers to a link on their  webpage or blog.  This is similar to The Writer’s strategy, however nearly all of the content is outside the email. The opt out rate for this type of marketer is often extremely low because the first thing that a reader does is leave their inbox and click on the suggested link. This type of marketing does not build much trust or sense of community.

Each of these strategies can be effective and all of them are used by successful internet marketers. The decision about which is best is pretty much a matter of choosing which one you prefer and which one best fits your style of marketing.

2 things that have time and again proven to be an essential tool for every internet marketer are list-building and auto responder marketing.  Auto responders are a huge time saver and a great way to continually test your email marketing strategy.  There are a number of different ways that you adjust your auto responder internet marketing to boost profits. Following are some that have proven universally effective, regardless of the niche.

1. The Subject Line Must Be An Attention Grabber

You can probably assume that nearly every person on your list is also on other lists.  You can also assume that everyone on your list will not open every email in their inbox.  This means that you are competing for your lists attention before they even open your emails.  This makes the subject line the most important part of every email.

It doesn’t matter how good your content is, if your readers never actually open your email.  One of the most profitable changes you can make to any auto responder campaign is to increase your open rate, or percentage of people that open every email. Pay attention to the subject lines in the emails you receive. Start by making a list of the ones that make you want to open and read them.

It’ also a good idea to use the recipients name. In addition to making it personal create a sense of urgency or ask a question or emphasize a benefit for the reader. And, do not use all capital letters.

2.   Make It Easy To Read

When creating an email, it is critical that you format it correctly.  Keep in mind that not all email displays are created equal.  There are could be differing character limits per line, some may not support HTML, and much more.  This means that you need to format every email so that a majority of email displays are easy to read and look good.  One way to do this is to keep every line shorter than 60 characters, as well as providing a comfortable amount of whitespace.

Many people scan their emails rather than read them word for word. Therefore, it is a good idea use appropriate headings and sub headings to guide them through the email so that they still get the message.

3.   Lead Your Readers to Take Action

While providing excellent content is essential, it doesn’t actually generate a profit until your readers take action.  Just like a sales page, it is important to have tell your readers what you want them to do.  It doesn’t matter if you want them to visit an article on your website, a new blog post, or even opt-in to another list, you cannot assume that your readers will take any action on their own. It may sound crass but you need to be blunt with your readers.

Once you’ve written your email, take break and return a little later and review it. Scan it and review it through the eyes of a reader. If it reads OK send it, if not make the changes you need. If you follow these tips you will soon find your response and your internet marketing profits increasing.

Do you have an autoresponder marketing strategy for your internet home business opportunity?  There are countless ways that you can use to attain auto responder marketing success. Although many of them are workable and get the job done, some methods have proved more effective than others. Let’s take a look at some of the more successful ones.

E Courses

One of the first big successes in auto responder marketing was using the first several weeks of content as an ecourse.  This strategy is often used so that you do not have to create a free ebook, free report, or free piece of software to get someone to sign up for your list.  Instead, you tell them to sign up for your free ecourse.  Then for the first series of emails, they will receive a brief course on the selected topic.  Ecourses are an excellent alternative to creating other free promotional items that can be more time-intensive, such as ebooks or software. Once the ecourse is complete, the readers should already have granted you some credibility as a reliable source.  Then you can go back to the more traditional email marketing methods.
Newsletters

Newsletters are a great way to not only keep your readers updated, but also a great way to add a lot of content to every message, without overwhelming your readers. The frequency often becomes a question when using newsletters. Bi- monthly and monthly newsletters are common. I prefer the twice a month approach, but it’s an individual choice. The key, however, is to make sure that content is always current. Adding banners or text advertisements are usually well received, but I wouldn’t recommend using them in every newsletter.

Traffic Generator

This strategy is not seen as often as many others, but it has consistently proven to be effective.  With this strategy, every email is a short overview paragraph of a webpage or blog post that you have on your website.  The short overview should peak the readers interest and give them a reason to click on the link to your site.   There are a number of advantages if this is done effectively, The first is since they will now be looking at your website, seeing advertisements is to be expected.  The second advantage is that they are much more likely to explore other pages or posts on your website.  Finally, with this boost in traffic, if you have decided to sell ad space you will be able to ask a higher price for the space.

As you can see, there’s more than one way to generate business with your auto responder and market your internet home business opportunity. The three we’ve covered here are some of the best auto responder strategies to help you build your relationship with your subscribers, boost your web traffic and increase your sales.

Build the list and the money is in the list is something you hear over and over if you have been around the Internet. However, lately many people have started to wonder just how effective building that list really is. Many internet home business marketing programs, in times past, focused on building a list and stockpiling an auto responder with months, if not years of content. Times have changed, marketing has changed and continues to change. It follows that the ways we use the autoresponder have also changed. Here are 3 roadblocks that can kill the responsiveness of your list.

1. Content Out of Date

It is not a good idea to load your auto responder with a years worth of content unless that content that is considered to be timeless. With the constant changes in nearly all phase of internet marketing, I’m not sure there is any information that would fit into the timeless category. The best advice, no matter what you load into your autoresponder, is to review your messages often to make sure that they are still providing current information. Outdated content us a sure way to drive away your prospects. No one wants to get emails filled with information that is outdated and useless.

2. Bad Coding

It is great to be able to personalize the emails that are sent to your list.  This is often done by adding special code to the email that will automatically take stored personal information and insert it into the email.  Most often, this is a first or first and last name. How would you like to get an email that began with “Hi <<first name>>”  instead of “Hi Jane”?  I expect it would be an absolute turnoff. Of course people already know that you are not personally addressing every email, but the illusion of personalization is nice.  By taking the time to double check your emails before they are sent and showing you have made the effort  to make your correspondence more personal will have a positive affect on your readers.

3. Too many Sales Pitches

The vast majority of people that sign up for your auto responder marketing list want to learn more about the subject at hand; not get a sales pitch every day.

The best approach is to load your auto responder with useful content, and then throw in a sales pitch every few emails. Respect your readers! Give them useful information. This will make them want to come back and learn more and they will trust you. Trust builds relationships and generates sales.

Change is just about the only constant on the Internet. Therefore, “roadblocks” will also be constant. Most of us seem to have some natural resistance to change, but if we want to be successful we must be willing and have the ability to change. Auto responder marketing is just one facet of internet home business marketing and is subject to frequent change just as the other types of marketing. So, If you stay on top of your list, keep outdated information out of your pre-set emails and provide your readers with the useful content, your auto responder marketing campaign can be a profitable one.

What is your purpose for writing an ebook? It could be to help you gain credibility, to build your mailing list or to market a particular product or service. Creation of the book is important but it should not be the center of your focus. Your main concern should be in increasing your conversion rates. How do you do this?
1. Secure the Confidence of Your Readers

If you want to establish long term relationships you must gain the trust of your contacts. An ebook is an excellent way to do this, however this simple goal is often ignored.  By ensuring that your ebooks provide quality information to the readers, without pushy sales pitches, gaining trust is easy.  Unfortunately, many ebooks are so focused on making sure that the readers focus on the products and advertisements, that the content becomes secondary.  By focusing on the content more and having less obtrusive advertisements, ebooks can convert at a much higher rate.

There are several ways to do this.  Instead of having ads in the middle of your text, simply have a page or two of “Recommended Resources” at the end.  If your ebook has gained the trust of the reader, they are more likely to take your recommended resources seriously. By doing this, the ebook will seem more focused on content and less sales-oriented.

2.Get a Response from your Prospects

A good way to create a response is to offer something free. People like to get free stuff.  Just because they must join your list to receive it, doesn’t mean that the ebook has already done its job.  Many internet marketers will not put a lot of effort into ebooks that are used for list-building because they think that the existence of the ebook itself is enough.  However, by creating a quality ebook, you can tailor the first few emails to revolve around the ebook that they received.

This provides two distinct advantages.  The first is that by referring to the ebook in the first few emails, the readers are much more likely to actively read the book and pay attention to it.  Secondly, by discussing the ebook immediately, it gives you and the readers a common ground which can lead to more active discussions and a more responsive list.

If your readers trust you they are much more likely to take your recommendations seriously.  This includes the Recommended Resources within your ebook, as well as future promotions that you mail out to your list.  It follows then that when you have their trust, they are more likely to make purchases from your affiliate links. Finally, people on your list are more likely to recommend your list, products, and websites to others, and word of mouth is a great advertiser.

These ebook writing tips are 2 money making ideas that will help you increase your conversion rates.

Writing you own ebook is touted as one of the easiest money making ideas on the Internet. Not only that, you get to keep all the profit. You may think that you are not a writer and in addition, it’s going to take an awful lot of valuable time.

Fortunately, there are a number of easy ways to shorten the amount of writing time by hours or even days and even find subject matter for your articles. To help streamline the ebook writing process, here are 4 time saving ebook writing tips.

1. Reuse Past Projects

One of the best ways to make ebook writing a quick process is to reuse content that you have previously written. You can reuse older website content, blog content, article marketing articles, and similar content that you have produced. This method will draw attention to blog posts and articles that are no longer getting much traffic.  Since they are not being seen currently, and ebook is an excellent way to re-purpose your old content. This time saving ebook writing tip can cut down the entire writing process to a matter of hours or less.

2. Hiring a Ghostwriter

Outsourcing your ebook writing projects has become increasingly common over the past 10 years. This will be a great time saver, but will also be  more expensive than writing it yourself. If you outsource your ebooks, make sure your ghostwriter provides 100% unique content and follows specific formatting or content requirements that you set. If your ebook short, outsourcing it can be inexpensive. One justification for outsourcing is that it gives you more time to complete more productive and profitable tasks.  If you save 10 hours of work time by hiring a ghostwriter, it can mean a cost savings of hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on what other tasks you are able to accomplish.

3. Draw on Other People’s Content

If someone has already written the type of content that you plan on creating, then there is no reason not to simply use theirs.  The easiest way to do this is to go to article directories, blogs, and niche specific websites that allow you to use their content.  Often, all you have to do is include a link to their website or their article bio that they provide for you.  Once you gather enough articles to create an ebook, simply compile it, create a table of contents and all of the content is ready to go.  This ebook writing tip can save a lot time and effort.  However, it is important to keep in mind that you can only use content that you have permission for.  Plagiarism is not only unethical, but has potential legal ramifications as well.

4. Make an Outline

If you want to write the ebook yourself, the best time saving ebook writing tip I can give is to take 10 or 15 minutes and create an outline.  The outline should not only have major points, but also the goal of each paragraph. Once you know what every paragraph is going to say, then the actual writing will be much easier and amazingly faster. If you don’t have to stop and think about what you are writing, you just have to follow the outline and start writing.

If you use these four time saving writing tips you will find that creating an ebook is not only a great money making idea but also is much easier than you could ever imagine.

All by itself affiliate marketing can be profitable. However, in order to be truly successful as an affiliate marketer, setting up a business website with multiple streams of income is essential.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest mistakes that affiliate marketers make when adding new streams of income, is competing with themselves.  It is very common for affiliate marketers to make additional profits by selling on ebay, dropshipping, creating their own products, becoming a PPC publisher and much more.  The key to doing this successfully is making sure that the products are complimentary       and do not directly compete with the affiliate offer. Here is a quick look at different ways of setting up a business website with multiple streams of income that can benefit or hurt your affiliate sales.

For these examples, let’s assume that your affiliate offer is for a vitamin supplement.

Sell on Ebay

Selling items on Ebay and Dropshipping tend to affect your affiliate products the same way because they both involve shipping physical products and never include services.

Using Ebay and dropshipping services is an excellent way to add a revenue stream to your website, however they can also hinder your bottom line.  If you are promoting Ebay items that are in competition with the vitamin supplement that you are selling, there is a high likelihood that some visitors will choose the Ebay product instead of your affiliate offer.  While you will still make some money, you would have made more if they had chosen your offer.  Instead, try promoting Ebay items related to fitness programs.  Many people taking vitamin supplements will probably be looking for a new fitness program as well.  This way you make sales instead of one.

Creating Products of Your Own

If you want to increase your affiliate profits, create your own product.  The easiest thing to do is create some free ebooks that advertise or subtly promote the vitamin supplement that you are promoting.  You can also create an ebook or video series and sell it independently from you affiliate offer.  If you make $20 in recurring income from your affiliate offer, then it is much more profitable than a stand-alone ebook.

One way to compliment your affiliate offer is to offer your ebook as a free bonus for anyone who purchases your affiliate offer.  This way they can purchase your ebook without the affiliate offer, so you still make a little money, or get it for free as a bonus, which means that you making even more money in residual income.  The only thing that you should not do is write an ebook that has an underlying philosophy that contradicts your affiliate offer.

Affiliate marketing on the Internet can be very rewarding but if you want to increase your profits, setting up a business website with multiple income streams will prove to be more profitable than setting up one with just a single income stream. Just remember not to compete with yourself. Pay attention to the streams you are adding to ensure that they are complimentary products and that they do not detract from your affiliate sales.

When you develop your business plan you should plan for the long term. You are not planning for a business that will make money for a few months. By the same token when you design your website you should have in mind long term success.

Unfortunately, affiliate marketers fall into the trap of designing a website that generates short term bursts of income. With a little more effort, it is easy to set up a business website that will generate long term profits. Here are 3 strategies you can use to create a website that is both sustainable and profitable.

1. Choosing a Domain Name

Choosing a domain name that includes a product name is likely to be ranked quickly and generate organic traffic.  However, this has a serious trade off with longevity.  Once this product is no longer popular or marketable, the website loses all of its value. Conversely, if you choose a domain name based upon the niche that the product is in, it will be more flexible down the road.  This means that when you need to switch offers that you are promoting, you can simply plug in a new offer that also relates to the niche.

2. The Content Should be Ageless

It is critical that you write articles that are timeless. While it is important to always be sharing new content with visitors, many webmasters will only create content that is relevant for a few months. By creating articles that are timeless you can build links to that type of content and visitors will always want to read it.  If you only create content that is product-specific or only relevant for a short time, you will end up constantly having to add more content and build more links.

3. Make It Easy To Change

If you are setting up a website for long term success, it must be easy to change. One of the biggest problems that affiliate websites have is that when an offer is no longer available, one of two things will happen.  First, the affiliate marketer will simply leave in dead links, which will hurt their Search Engine Results and irritate readers.  Second, they will need to manually change all of their links, which is time consuming and tedious.  In order to avoid this, it is important to plan ahead and create ways that links can be automatically updated.

There are a number of different ways to do this utilizing commercial plugins, addons, or software.  Many affiliate marketers argue that one of the easiest ways to do this is by cloaking your affiliate links.  Then when a product needs to be changed, they can simply upload a new landing page to replace the outdated offer.

For example, you may promote an offer with the following link –  HYPERLINK “http://offer1.com/affiliateID=1”.  Once you cloak the link and add it to your domain, it may look like this “http://yourdomain.com/greatdeal”. This is called a hyperlink.  When you decide to no longer promote this product, you can then simply take a new offer, cloak your affiliate link, and point it to:   “http://yourdomain.com/greatoffer”.  By doing this you do not have to change any links on your website to change offers.

As you can see, with a little forethought and planning in the beginning, you can build an internet home business website for long term success that will require minimal maintenance once it is set up.
