5. Set up your website. This can be very difficult if you have no experience in this area and it can also be costly. This sometimes causes people to hesitate getting started online. However, an easy and inexpesive way to do this is to install WordPress on your web hosting site.

Most good quality hosting companies have an easy WordPress installation program in your CPanel admin area. You can use that to set up a WordPress blog with just a few clicks of your mouse.

6. Promote your business. This is the most important thing you need to do. You can have the most attractive website with great sales copy, but if no one can find it to read it, it will make you very little if any money.

If you have been involved in internet marketing for any length of time you have undoubtedly heard “the money is in the list”. In most instances that translates into the need for building a large list. However, that is not necessarily true.

What if you have an email list of several thousand people and most of them are not opening your emails? I would think that you would rather have a much smaller list where nearly all of them were purchasing your products.

Therefore, it is the quality of your list rather than the numbers that is the important factor.

1. Analyze

In order to get a better understanding of your list, your only option is to be able to analyze it.  The problem that some people run into is that they choose a method that isn’t as helpful as it should be.  Here is a quick look at some of the different metrics that can be used and what they will tell you.

We would most frequently look at the percentage of leads that convert into a real sales opportunity to determine how good our list is.  Some lists will react differently to each type of sales tactic.  By looking at the percentage of leads that you are turning into a real sales opportunity, you can get an understanding of what your list likes and dislikes.

Let’s look at a couple of examples. Once you understand the make up of your list, you will be able to identify the strategies to influence it effectively.
