If you are serious about establishing your internet homebased business you really should have a self-hosted website. To help you better understand the importance of this let’s examine some of the fundamental reasons why self-hosting is necessary to establish your online identity.

1.Having a Domain Name That You Own

If you own your own domain it is yours. You have complete control of it. You can put the information you choose on the site. You may decide to place ads on the site or not. While a program with a free hosted site will put ads of their choosing on your site. If you own the site it is like owning a piece of real estate. If you become successful and decide that you want to sell it you can.

2.Look Professional

Free hosted websites will be a strong indicator of not being professional. It simply won’t attract a large number of serious potential customers.  Free hosting companies use your website to promote their products, which detract the focus away from your business. On the other hand, you can have content on your own site that lets people know you are a real person who they can contact and communicate with.

3.Freedom to Choose

You do not have the freedom to choose much of any thing with a free hosted site. With your own domain and a self-hosted site the choice is yours regarding which software to use. You choose the hosting company which can have a lot to do with your flexibility to do more things with your website. There are so many advantages like software to create a blog and 3rd party plug-ins that can make your internet homebased business website more functional.

I guess the question comes down to this: Do you really want someone else to be in charge of your website? If you are not willing to treat your business assets seriously, then your website will not be able to help you establish a valid and useful online web presence. Internet users today have the ability to tell when a business is not taking their website seriously.

I am sure your choice is to be professional and to do the things necessary to have flexibility, to brand yourself, to have control and to be successful. You can only do these things with a self-hosted website.

If you are involved in affiliate marketing you may have a website furnished by that program. Even so you still should have your own website. Your affiliate site is the same as every other affiliate. There is nothing to make you different that the others.

Additionally, it doesn’t matter whether you are a large company or an individual, a website will be to your benefit. So let’s review some of these benefits.

1. Cost Savings

You need to promote your product or service and from time to time you will want to share information with you customers. There is no less expensive way of doing this than online. For example you can save on material costs,  postage and delivery as well as printing cost.

2. Credibility

In this age of the Internet, I would say that a majority of people when searching for something whether it be some household product, information about health or fitness a recipe or almost anything, go to the Internet. By having  a website to not only market your product but also to establish a relationship with your readers, you will increase your credibility.

3. A Central Point For Your Advertising

In your advertising you need some place to direct your customers. Where would you send them if you do not have a website? How are they going to find your product? If you have a website they can find it quickly with in seconds. Even if you have a brick and mortar business it is much more convenient and time saving for the customer to check out the product first before taking the time to drive to your business location.

4. Customer Loyalty

There are many ways to establish customer loyalty. For example, you can set up a newsletter, create a business blog and even use social media such as Twitter and Facebook. It is simply much easier to do online because you can stay in almost constant contact. You certainly do not want to over do it with sales promos but you can provide them with useful information and incentives to have them visit your site. Make sure they have a way to contact you if they have questions or problems.

All of these things will help to give you credibility and gain the trust of your customers. They will decrease your cost of doing business and increase your profits, and provide a focal point for your advertising. Remember, you will be leaving money on the table if you do not have a website to promote your internet home business opportunity.

If you are going to build an internet home  business website, there are some tools that you can use to make your website more effective. A quality shopping cart, RSS capabilities, and email newsletter opt-in abilities are three of these tools.  Let’s examine these three features and see how they provide value to both you and your customers.

1.    First let’s examine an opt in form for your e-newsletter. E-newsletters are the perfect way to keep in touch with your customers.  They can be used to share information, provide special offers, or just stay in touch.  Every business can benefit from having a way to get in contact with customers and potential customers alike.  You website can help you build your list and generate leads by adding a simple opt in form. If you do not want to write a newsletter every few days or every week, you can use an autoresponder to set up pre-set messages that will get sent on the intervals that you choose.  This is great way to stay in contact with customers.

2. The RSS Feed is another element that has become increasingly widespread. This allows customers to subscribe to your RSS feed so they can get constant updates about any new content that you add to your website. If you add a business blog this becomes a great addition for your website.  If you are releasing a new product, have important information to share, or just want to share some information, the RSS feed will ensure that your customers will get access to it immediately.  You should not only have the ability to share your RSS feed, but you must also have an easy way for customers and website visitors to subscribe to it. .

3. When designing a business website, you also need to make sure that you can make sales and process payments.  Business websites that only have “buy now” buttons are missing out on potential profits because customers are forced to purchase everything individually.  With a quality shopping cart, you can make it easy for your customers to purchase multiple items simultaneously.  This increases the chances that you will make more than one sale at a time.  Additionally, it allows you to upsell complimentary products or provide special deals during the checkout process, which can also lead to more sales.

When it comes to designing an internet home business website, these are 3 features that should be considered indispensable. The opt in form enhanced by the use of an autoresponder is a great way to build your list. Easy access to your RSS feed provides customers with quick notification about any updates that are made to your website. And  finally, the shopping cart makes it convenient for your clients to make purchases.

Have you thought about creating a website for you internet home business? If so, have you considered what it will take to build your site? Here are some things you should consider in order to help you decide whether you should take on this task or hire someone to do it for you.

The first thing that must be considered is whether or not you have the sufficient skills to create a professional website.  Simply having a website is not enough.  It must appear professional as well as be functional for its visitors.  Depending how you will be promoting your website, the design may also need to be optimized for SEO purposes.  With your web presence at stake, do you really believe that you have the skills necessary to do this yourself?

While it is true that you can make money on the Internet without your own website, your potential is much greater if you have your own site. Another factor to consider is time. Even you have the time to create it, are you skilled enough to get it up and running within a meaningful time-frame?  If not then outsourcing this project to someone who can do it much faster is a much wiser choice.

Experienced web designers have the advantage of being familiar with the latest trends and techniques that are making business websites the most successful and profitable. If you are not familiar with these trends and techniques you would not only waste valuable time but also lose money by designing the site yourself.

Another benefit of outsourcing the design of your website is gaining additional value through sustainability.  Professional website designers create websites that can provide sustainable success.  They understand that there are certain features or programming techniques that are more timeless and sustainable than others.  They can then leverage this information to create a website that is not only sustainable, but also easy to alter if changes prove to be necessary.

You should always consider whether or not you have the sufficient skills necessary to design a professional looking website, if you have the time, if you can take advantage of the latest trends, and whether or not you can make a business website that will provide sustainable value. Once you consider the factors involved, the decision of whether or not you should outsource your website design should be easy.

There is no specific rule about when to outsource tasks that take up too much of your time. However, all internet marketers will eventually face the time when they should start outsourcing some of their workload. There are some common questions that need to be asked though when you do consider outsourcing.

What Are Your Skills?

You should concentrate on working with your strongest skills. For example, if you are a good writer you should concentrate on writing articles. On the other hand, if you do not know how to create a website, it may not be a good use of your time to try and create one.  The objective of outsourcing is to leverage the skills of other people to help you do what needs to be done.  If someone can do a particular task better than you, then why not let them?

What is The Value of Your Time?

The saying that time is money is true when it comes to internet marketing. It is a valuable resource just the same as your money. If the value of your time is X number of dollars an hour, then activity you perform that does not provide that much value should be outsourced if your budget permits. Outsourcing allows you to leverage the time of others in order to make the most of your time.

What is The Economy of Scale?

This is one of the biggest issues that drives the need to outsource. Let’s say it takes an hour for you to write 4 articles and you get paid $5 for each article. Your earnings for an 8 hour day will be $160. If you work 8 hours a day, every day, the most you will ever make in a month is $4960, and that is assuming every month has 31 days. Nearly $60,000 a year may sound like a decent income. But then stop and analyze this for a moment. You would probably like a day off on occasion or even some vacation time. After all one of the reasons you decided on internet marketing in the first place was to avoid that 9:00 to 5:00 work day. By outsourcing, you can take on more clients and have other people write your articles for you.  This will serve to increase your potential income.

The same is true for any type of internet marketing.  If you outsource website design, product creation, customer service, and other everyday tasks, you can create an unlimited amount of new products and websites.  If you do all of this yourself, you will be lucky to create 2 websites and products a month, because you only have so much time.

How Large is Your Budget?

There are some internet marketers who begin in the business with the ability to spend thousands of dollars a month for outsourcing. They may be the fortunate few. Most of us do not have that kind of luxury to cover our monthly expenses.  It only makes sense that if you do not have the money to outsource, then you shouldn’t.

Remember, the decision to outsource tasks is based on the factors we’ve covered in this article. The decision is yours and yours alone to make. The points we have covered here should help you make the right decision.

There are many fantastic ways to earn money with an online business today. However the reason that many people fail is they do not know how to promote their homebased business opportunity. Internet marketing takes skills and we will discuss a few of those now.

1. Invest time or money. In many cases you will probably be investing both. However, when it comes to Internet marketing what you lack in one of these you can compensate for by investing in more of the other.

Many people are short on cash, but have time to promote their business. Other people are extremely busy, but do have money to outsource their Internet marketing efforts.

However you choose to go about it you will need to invest into your business before you can expect to get anything back from it. Once your home-based business is set up the majority of your time will be spent on marketing on the Internet.

2. Pay per click advertising is still a good paid advertising source. One thing that has changed is how people are spending their money online.

In the past Google Adwords was the best PPC strategy you could follow. However today you see many Internet marketers promoting using pay per click advertising with Yahoo and other PPC search engines.

You also see successful Internet marketers taking advantage of social media sites such as Facebook to promote on. You will have plenty of options and ultimately must find at least one good source of paid advertising to promote on.

3. Use article marketing as an excellent free source of advertising. It doesn’t cost you anything except your time to write and submit articles. The more articles you have online with a resource box, and your website link in it, the more potential traffic you can get.

If you have a little bit of money to invest you can automate your article marketing efforts. There are programs on the Internet today that will write and submit your articles for you. This allows you to work on other forms of Internet marketing if you choose to.

4. Incorporate social media into your marketing mix. Today this means having a blog and adding content to it. It also means creating videos and posting those online.

There are many programs that make this easy to do. There is even one program out called Article Video Robot where you can turn articles into videos.

All this may seem a little overwhelming at first. Again depending on your skill level, and advertising budget, you can outsource as much of your Internet marketing as you want to.

Ultimately how you choose to promote your homebased business opportunity will come down to you.

I’ll bet you can’t guess what one of the best things an internet marketing newbie can do. A new internet marketer can follow the advice of self-proclaimed gurus, search the Internet for the latest trends or read ebooks and watch videos. However, one thing that sometimes proves more beneficial that anything is to fail in those first couple of attempts at marketing.

I say this because failure can be a good teacher as long as we learn from our failures. Thomas Edison said “I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. He was a prime example of not giving up and learning from his failures.

If you happen to be lucky and have some immediate success, there is a much greater chance that when your business starts on a downward slope, you won’t know what to do. However, if you fail initially, you will have already learned how to adapt to the ever changing internet world and will quickly compensate.  Learning from past mistakes is much more effective than reading a 100 page book about how to succeed.  By making a mistake, you will get the chance to identify what caused you problems, and avoid similar situations in the future.

Additionally, having failed in the past makes you consider your options more extensively.  Being a little hesitant about new “tips and tricks” is not always a bad thing, in fact it rarely is.  However, if you instantly succeed, you will likely try new tactics without looking at what affect they will have on your bottom-line or the future of your business.

.By failing initially, it is easier to put your ego in check and open your eyes to new opportunities as well as realistically addressing your strengths and weaknesses.  Once you identify your strengths and weaknesses, you can better optimize your business by outsourcing the tasks that you are not good at.

Failure has a tendency to make you humble and more willing to accept advice. Instant success, on the other hand, makes it more likely that you will ignore advice and help from those who have a proven success record.

I used to play a lot of golf and I cannot think of a more humbling game. I remember several occasions winning tournaments and thinking I’ve finally mastered this game and the next time out shooting a score that was embarrassing. So with glory comes all of the humbling defeats.

Should you have immediate success and begin thinking how easy this internet marketing is going to be and then suffer failure without having had the experience the inclination to give up is more likely. If you fail in the beginning it may test your mettle, and help you decide if internet marketing is really for you.

The most successful people have failed many times before finally succeeding. Perhaps not as many times as Edison, but I have read from many of those who have achieved fame that their road to success was paved by many failures. Failure can be an excellent teacher and if you will develop a positive attitude you will learn from it and achieve success as an internet marketer.
