Competition is fierce for the attention of readers on the Internet, so it is important to know how to be successful in that battle. Since the auto responder is one of the primary “weapons” used in the battle, it is vital that you become proficient in at least one aspect of the entire procedure.  While you obviously want to be at least proficient at every level of running a successful email marketing campaign, it is important to excel in some areas in order to have an edge. Here is a quick look at some of the most common types of strategies on the auto responder marketing battlefield.

1.   Salespersons

These are people who send out at least one email a day to their list promoting a product or two. This approach can be extremely effective over the short term because it is possible to quickly make multiple sales from a single person. However, it is not a good marketing strategy for the long term.

Your readers will expect some quality information that will be helpful to them. They will soon tire of getting nothing but promotions for products that you are marketing.

2. Listbuilders

The listbuilder is the type of internet marketer who will place a majority of their efforts into the actual list-building process.  They will usually have an extremely high amount of opt-ins on a weekly or monthly basis, and they will generally have lower overall conversion rates. Relationships may be important to the listbuilder, but their emphasis is on signing up high numbers of people rather than taking the time to personally connect with a few readers. Quite often, however,  because of the sheer number of people on their list, the lists are extremely profitable.

3. The Writer

The writer is the type of internet marketer who can build a decent sized list, but will probably build it over time in order to create a giant list.  The strength of the writer is that they can create content of a high value for their readers on a consistent basis.  They often send out less sales offers, but in return, have a much higher conversion rate when they do.  While they do not have excessively high opt in rates, they will also have extremely low opt out rates.  The writer is the person who thrives on building relationships that can create a sense of community with the people on the list.

4. The Linker

Some auto responder marketers use their emails as promotions with just a little information about their product or service and then steer their readers to a link on their  webpage or blog.  This is similar to The Writer’s strategy, however nearly all of the content is outside the email. The opt out rate for this type of marketer is often extremely low because the first thing that a reader does is leave their inbox and click on the suggested link. This type of marketing does not build much trust or sense of community.

Each of these strategies can be effective and all of them are used by successful internet marketers. The decision about which is best is pretty much a matter of choosing which one you prefer and which one best fits your style of marketing.

2 things that have time and again proven to be an essential tool for every internet marketer are list-building and auto responder marketing.  Auto responders are a huge time saver and a great way to continually test your email marketing strategy.  There are a number of different ways that you adjust your auto responder internet marketing to boost profits. Following are some that have proven universally effective, regardless of the niche.

1. The Subject Line Must Be An Attention Grabber

You can probably assume that nearly every person on your list is also on other lists.  You can also assume that everyone on your list will not open every email in their inbox.  This means that you are competing for your lists attention before they even open your emails.  This makes the subject line the most important part of every email.

It doesn’t matter how good your content is, if your readers never actually open your email.  One of the most profitable changes you can make to any auto responder campaign is to increase your open rate, or percentage of people that open every email. Pay attention to the subject lines in the emails you receive. Start by making a list of the ones that make you want to open and read them.

It’ also a good idea to use the recipients name. In addition to making it personal create a sense of urgency or ask a question or emphasize a benefit for the reader. And, do not use all capital letters.

2.   Make It Easy To Read

When creating an email, it is critical that you format it correctly.  Keep in mind that not all email displays are created equal.  There are could be differing character limits per line, some may not support HTML, and much more.  This means that you need to format every email so that a majority of email displays are easy to read and look good.  One way to do this is to keep every line shorter than 60 characters, as well as providing a comfortable amount of whitespace.

Many people scan their emails rather than read them word for word. Therefore, it is a good idea use appropriate headings and sub headings to guide them through the email so that they still get the message.

3.   Lead Your Readers to Take Action

While providing excellent content is essential, it doesn’t actually generate a profit until your readers take action.  Just like a sales page, it is important to have tell your readers what you want them to do.  It doesn’t matter if you want them to visit an article on your website, a new blog post, or even opt-in to another list, you cannot assume that your readers will take any action on their own. It may sound crass but you need to be blunt with your readers.

Once you’ve written your email, take break and return a little later and review it. Scan it and review it through the eyes of a reader. If it reads OK send it, if not make the changes you need. If you follow these tips you will soon find your response and your internet marketing profits increasing.

Do you have an autoresponder marketing strategy for your internet home business opportunity?  There are countless ways that you can use to attain auto responder marketing success. Although many of them are workable and get the job done, some methods have proved more effective than others. Let’s take a look at some of the more successful ones.

E Courses

One of the first big successes in auto responder marketing was using the first several weeks of content as an ecourse.  This strategy is often used so that you do not have to create a free ebook, free report, or free piece of software to get someone to sign up for your list.  Instead, you tell them to sign up for your free ecourse.  Then for the first series of emails, they will receive a brief course on the selected topic.  Ecourses are an excellent alternative to creating other free promotional items that can be more time-intensive, such as ebooks or software. Once the ecourse is complete, the readers should already have granted you some credibility as a reliable source.  Then you can go back to the more traditional email marketing methods.
Newsletters

Newsletters are a great way to not only keep your readers updated, but also a great way to add a lot of content to every message, without overwhelming your readers. The frequency often becomes a question when using newsletters. Bi- monthly and monthly newsletters are common. I prefer the twice a month approach, but it’s an individual choice. The key, however, is to make sure that content is always current. Adding banners or text advertisements are usually well received, but I wouldn’t recommend using them in every newsletter.

Traffic Generator

This strategy is not seen as often as many others, but it has consistently proven to be effective.  With this strategy, every email is a short overview paragraph of a webpage or blog post that you have on your website.  The short overview should peak the readers interest and give them a reason to click on the link to your site.   There are a number of advantages if this is done effectively, The first is since they will now be looking at your website, seeing advertisements is to be expected.  The second advantage is that they are much more likely to explore other pages or posts on your website.  Finally, with this boost in traffic, if you have decided to sell ad space you will be able to ask a higher price for the space.

As you can see, there’s more than one way to generate business with your auto responder and market your internet home business opportunity. The three we’ve covered here are some of the best auto responder strategies to help you build your relationship with your subscribers, boost your web traffic and increase your sales.
