3 Auto Responder Mistakes That You Must Avoid
Build the list and the money is in the list is something you hear over and over if you have been around the Internet. However, lately many people have started to wonder just how effective building that list really is. Many internet home business marketing programs, in times past, focused on building a list and stockpiling an auto responder with months, if not years of content. Times have changed, marketing has changed and continues to change. It follows that the ways we use the autoresponder have also changed. Here are 3 roadblocks that can kill the responsiveness of your list.
1. Content Out of Date
It is not a good idea to load your auto responder with a years worth of content unless that content that is considered to be timeless. With the constant changes in nearly all phase of internet marketing, I’m not sure there is any information that would fit into the timeless category. The best advice, no matter what you load into your autoresponder, is to review your messages often to make sure that they are still providing current information. Outdated content us a sure way to drive away your prospects. No one wants to get emails filled with information that is outdated and useless.
2. Bad Coding
It is great to be able to personalize the emails that are sent to your list. This is often done by adding special code to the email that will automatically take stored personal information and insert it into the email. Most often, this is a first or first and last name. How would you like to get an email that began with “Hi <<first name>>” instead of “Hi Jane”? I expect it would be an absolute turnoff. Of course people already know that you are not personally addressing every email, but the illusion of personalization is nice. By taking the time to double check your emails before they are sent and showing you have made the effort to make your correspondence more personal will have a positive affect on your readers.
3. Too many Sales Pitches
The vast majority of people that sign up for your auto responder marketing list want to learn more about the subject at hand; not get a sales pitch every day.
The best approach is to load your auto responder with useful content, and then throw in a sales pitch every few emails. Respect your readers! Give them useful information. This will make them want to come back and learn more and they will trust you. Trust builds relationships and generates sales.
Change is just about the only constant on the Internet. Therefore, “roadblocks” will also be constant. Most of us seem to have some natural resistance to change, but if we want to be successful we must be willing and have the ability to change. Auto responder marketing is just one facet of internet home business marketing and is subject to frequent change just as the other types of marketing. So, If you stay on top of your list, keep outdated information out of your pre-set emails and provide your readers with the useful content, your auto responder marketing campaign can be a profitable one.
